👉🏽’I am here’👈
As we are now exactly half way through 2021, I felt it fitting to reflect on the last 6 months and will be expressing my reflections in some art therapy shortly. Before I did this, it occurred to me to revisit my creative art expression and blog from the end of last year as a platform to gauge my journey into this year so far and wanted to share.
🖼 The image shown here is my 2020 intuitive therapeutic art piece created on New Years Eve day…an expression of my journey through last year. It is a map that begins at the bottom of the painting travelling up to the top…to ‘I am here’… a simple space to contemplate the new year…
🤯 It was a frenzied creation (a little bit like last year!!) that took about 1.5 hours. Like always, when I allow myself to drop out of my head and simply express my feelings and impressions intuitively in the art, the release and relief I feel is incredibly valuable. There is a beauty in allowing things to naturally unfold without any judgement; simply let go and enjoy the ride!
💜 To see and explore my journey expressed creatively before me with an open heart, allowed forgiveness, acceptance and gratitude to flow through me. I was able to objectively ‘feel’ and ‘see’ my highs and lows, to honour my strengths and my vulnerabilities and celebrate my growth and achievements over a difficult year.
I used acrylic on a timber board I found in my shed. Art Therapy can be expressed on almost anything. There are no limits to the mediums you can use to gain therapeutic self-discoveries. Often you are able to find resources around your home, remembering in creative arts therapies, our main concern is not the outcome, but the process to get there. This is usually where all the juice resides.
🔥 Do you see the point in my painting when our world went crazy??
🌼 My painting is called ‘I am here’.
💫 Hello 2021!
